It must be the dread of every bride ! You spend so much time preparing for your wedding day and everything is under control and organised, except the only thing you can't control is the weather. However, worry not, as inclement weather can actually be a blessing in disguise and lead to to beautiful 'wow' photos to fill your wedding album with. Read my blog below on how to work with the elements and stop the rain dampening your special day!

So, you have arrived at your big day, everything is prepared except you are nervously looking at the weather forecast with a feeling of doom. Everyone wants perfect weather for their wedding but let’s be honest it a bit of a lottery, especially here in Yorkshire where I live near Ilkley in the gorgeous Wharfedale valley. Wedding photography is no simple task, even on the perfect day, so rain and inclement weather poses its own unique ‘challenges’. It’s important to have communication with the wedding couple to help allay their worries. I don’t mind getting wet and my camera equipment is waterproof ! Bad weather has its opportunities though, as you will see from the beautiful wedding photos displayed on this blog. It really does allow the photography to become creative. We can also use shelter where possible but by using an umbrella and some creative off camera flash we have the chance to take those ‘wow’ wedding photos you will cherish forever. Through use of reflections in puddles, back lighting the rain drops and a fast shutter speed allows us to create a stunning effects to enhance your wedding photos. By using a white umbrella and backlighting the bridal couple with a flash the effect is to create a beautiful image which diffused the light on the surroundings, plus you get to stay dry !! So, don’t panic, and remember the French proverb.. “Those who marry on a rainy day will be happy for the rest of their lives.”
